Privacy Policy

In short

• No personal information is asked for or stored — no name, email, phone number or address.
• The pictures you make, the text you write and your favourites stay on your phone.
• Only two anonymous streams are collected: how the app is used, and where it crashes.
• Gallery, photo-picker and notification permissions are requested at the moment they are needed, never at startup.

What is not collected

Kothachitra has no registration and no login, so there is no way for it to know who you are. The quotes you read, the text you type, the photos you pick from the gallery and the pictures you export are never sent to any server. Favourites and settings live in the phone's own storage (SharedPreferences), and a font you import is copied into the app's own folder.

What is collected automatically

The app uses Google's Firebase services to collect two kinds of anonymous information. Neither is linked to your identity:

• Firebase Analytics — which screens are opened and which features are used, along with general device information (model, Android version, language, approximate region).
• Firebase Crashlytics — the error, its stack trace and the state of the device when the app crashes. Without it there is no way to find out which phones are hitting which bug.

There is no in-app switch to turn these two off. To stop them entirely, uninstall the app.

Version checks and remote config

Firebase Remote Config and Google Play's in-app update only check whether your version of the app is still supported and whether there is an announcement to show. Neither sends any information about you.

The permissions the app asks for

• Permission to save images — requested only when you actually save one to the gallery. Sharing stages the file in a cache folder and needs no permission at all.
• Photo access — putting your own picture on a background or in a template opens Android's own photo picker; the app does not take access to your whole gallery.
• Notification permission — requested only if you switch the daily quote on, and it can be switched off again in Settings at any time.
• Font files — importing your own .ttf or .otf opens the system file picker, and only the file you choose is read.

Third-party services

• Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) — for the anonymous information described above.
• Google Fonts — the first time you use a font that is not bundled, it is downloaded from Google's servers. As with opening any website, Google receives ordinary network information such as your IP address during that request. The font is then cached on the phone.
• Google Play services — for installing, updating and version checks, under Google's own policies.

Advertising

Kothachitra currently shows no advertising and collects nothing for advertising purposes. If ads are introduced later, this page and the Play Store Data Safety declaration will both be updated, and consent will be requested where it applies.

Children

The app is intended for ages 13 and over. It is not directed at children, and no information from children is knowingly collected.

How long anything is kept

Everything held on the phone — favourites, settings, imported fonts — goes when you uninstall the app or clear its data. The anonymous statistics in Firebase are retained for Google's standard period; because they are not tied to a person, there is no individual record to look up and delete.

Changes to this policy

This page is updated when the app changes, and the date above changes with it. A significant change will also be announced inside the app.
